Dental Fillings

What is a Dental Filling?

A dental filling can be used to replace areas of decay within a tooth. If one or more of your natural teeth becomes decayed, the decay has to be removed and is then replaced by a filling. We use tooth-colored composite resin fillings to restore your smile. These fillings are durable and blend in flawlessly with the rest of your teeth.

Why would Dental Fillings be necessary?

You’ll need to have a filling placed if you have a cavity. Cavities are small areas of decay within a tooth. Before the decay can get worse and the cavity larger, we remove it and place a dental filling. Your new filling restores the tooth, strengthening it and preventing it from becoming sensitive due to the hole that was created. Fillings are ideal for adult as well as pediatric patients.

Who Is A Candidate For Dental Fillings

Who is a candidate for Dental Fillings?

We will examine your teeth thoroughly to determine if you need a filling. Cavities often come with no symptoms or side effects. Because of this, it can be easy to ignore them because you just don’t know that they are there. This is why you’ll want to come in for routine checkup appointments so that we can check for cavities in any and all of your teeth.

What can you expect during the Dental Filling process?

We first numb the area with a local anesthetic. We then remove all decay from the tooth itself and prep the tiny hole to receive the filling. We match the composite resin that’ll be used for the filling and place it inside of the tooth. Excess material is smoothed away and the filling hardened into place with a bright light. The procedure is typically done in just a half an hour, and multiple fillings can be placed at the same time.
