Dental Exams & Cleanings
What are Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Cleanings and exams are necessary to keeping your teeth healthy and strong. Cleanings can prevent instances of tooth decay, gingivitis and gum disease. Exams give us a clear view of your dental health, which can prevent minor problems from getting out of hand. Together, both cleanings and exams can prevent problems, eliminate bad breath and improve your oral health.
Why are Dental Exams & Cleanings needed?
Forgoing routine dental care is detrimental to your oral health. Small problems will continue to be ignored, and they’ll get worse over time. If you don’t have regular cleanings, heavy tartar buildup can accumulate on all surfaces of the teeth. This tartar can contribute to bad breath, gingivitis, gum disease and even tooth decay.

Who is a candidate for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Every member of your family should be coming into the office for routine dental care. These appointments should be done every six months in order to keep up with your dental and oral health. It is never too early to get your kids in for their first appointment. It’s never too late to take a proactive approach to your smile and its overall health.
What happens during the appointment for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
The appointment will begin with a cleaning that is performed by our licensed and registered dental hygienist. The hygienist will clear away tartar from your teeth and floss between them. The teeth will then be polished using a pumice paste and the gums checked for signs of gingivitis or gum disease. We then come into the room and perform an exam to check for cavities, oral cancer and other intraoral problems. We create a personalized treatment plan and discuss with you any work that may need to be done before you leave the office.
