A small area of tooth decay or another physical defect in a tooth’s enamel layer can sometimes be addressed by installing a dental filling. This mode of treatment will essentially replace the compromised area with an alternate material.

While it is intended to repair the tooth for many years, dental fillings can sometimes come loose. This is often attributed to poor oral hygiene complications or failing to attend your regularly scheduled dental checkups at Monon Family Dental.

As a dental filling’s relationship with the surrounding tooth enamel starts to fail, you might notice the tooth becoming increasingly sensitive. This might also occur in conjunction with a change in texture, and color.

If the distressed dental filling is large there might not be sufficient healthy tooth enamel remaining for a dentist to install a replacement filling. In a case such as this, your dentist might recommend treating the tooth with a dental crown restoration. We use Same Day Crown CEREC so you can have the treatment done in one day. This treatment plan is designed to completely replace the tooth’s enamel layer with another material such as gold, base metal alloys, or a special type of dental grade porcelain.

Once it has been prepared in a dental lab, we will cement the dental crown in place with a special dental adhesive. This will effectively restore the normal function of the tooth. If you live in the Zionsville, Carmel, Fishers, or Noblesville, Indiana, areas and you suspect one of your dental fillings has become distressed, you should call 317-810-9285 to have it treated at Monon Family Dental today!
